Virtual learning experiences incorporate computers and/or the internet. The learning can be self-paced (asynchronous) or live web-conferencing (synchronous) online teaching and instruction.
Virtual learning can take different forms, including: e-learning, web-based learning, online learning, distance learning or blended learning. It provides an alternative for participants that can’t commit to place-based learning and it’s mobile device friendly.
The following State initiatives are focused on virtual learning.
- LifeWorksNV.org is a work-based learning hub for in- and out-of-school youth and young adults in Nevada.
- Ohio’s Individual Micro-credential Assistance Program (IMAP) that helps Ohioans who are low income, partially unemployed, or totally unemployed participate in a training program to receive a credential at no cost.
- Illinois STEAM is a consolidated resource for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) available for Illinois students and educators.
